The strange thing about co-parenting for me was that it forced me to realize that many of the absentee fathers that moved several states away after the divorce (maybe more common in the 80s and 90s) may have actually been just taking one for the team as much as some would want to paint it as an act of cruel abandonment. Certainly it was for some but the point is that true co-parenting/shared custody is an almost laughably difficult dynamic. It’s like separating two boxers but having them continue the fight over email for another decade.
