How many newsletters do you have in your publication? I have 18…and it seems excessive, but I have reasons.

The first one is my main Substack. Then, I decided that instead of putting multiple posts in the same feed, I would separate out each of them into their own newsletter so that people could unsubscribe from any one of them if they wanted.

So, my weekly check-in thread is its own thing now.

Then, I serialize a novel series, which is its own newsletter, too.

So, that’s…3.

The other 15 are back catalog books from my career that I offer free to paid subscribers. I love them, but they are niche and weird.

Initially, I thought about offering PDFs or epubs, but the thing I DON’T want is people being able to download after subscribing for a month. They can go BUY my books if they want to own them.

So, I created a different newsletter for each story that people can go to, read, and enjoy in one streamlined place.

I formatted them to read well on Substack and even got new scene breaks for each book.

I decided to give A LOT of stuff to paid subscribers b/c when I started I had people unsubscribe b/c I didn’t post enough.

So, now I offer a bundle of free courses AND all these free stories.

But I didn’t just want to do books b/c I’m known for comics, too. So I had to add both comics and novels, which basically doubled everything, and then I added three non-fiction books, so that added more.

Eventually, I plan to serialize my two other big series as well, but for now, this feels like…too much. Is it too much? Am I coming on too strong?
