“You don’t have to use AI” is an illusion. The same way “you don’t have to use a smartphone” but somehow your banking, your local bus company and your parking payment system requires you to download an app.

I believe what we see here is a growing chain of dependency that is less connected to physical reality and public structures we created in the course of history. It is solely dependent on profit-chasing companies we have no control of who can pull the plug any time they want.

Sure, the blogs are still there, heck, the books are still there. But you’re looking at it from a grown-up’s perspective. The following generations may not have the skills to access them the way we used to in the past. The library is accessible for free but the ways we access it is making the librarian indispesible and we are not the ones who decide the terms of use.
