Little Things That Made My Day (May 21)
Callie Gullickson’s She’s The Man-themed strength workout on Peloton (aired on 5/20/23). I will definitely be watching the movie tonight (one of my favorites!)
Nisha Sharma’s forthcoming Tastes Like Shakkar. I’m both very hungry and hot and bothered after reading this (just read it again this weekend)
a simple freezer/pantry lunch (frozen grains and veggies packet from Trader Joe’s, grilled chicken from Fresh Direct, Omson lemongrass BBQ sauce, lots of Sriracha)
completing a Wooble crochet kit (Kiki the Chick) over the weekend. It was adorable and fun, and a great way to brush up on my crochet skills.
the tea ceremony at my son’s karate dojo today. I had two takeaways from the ceremony:
- modern life prioritizes distraction over all. Can you remember the last time you did a single thing - fully focused in a conversation, read a book without picking up your phone every few minutes? Today’s ceremony was one of the few times I was fully present and it felt so nice.
- lead with kindness. This was the message from Sensei John, and it was a powerful reminder that kindness and love can be the most powerful tool we have in an increasingly negative world. I needed this reminder.
lazy girl chai (brew a bag of PG Tips with milk and water, remove the bag once steeped and add a small spoon of Anjali’s Cup chai masala. Let it simmer for a few minutes, pour into a pretty cup, and enjoy!
