Yesterday US equity markets gapped higher following another blowout quarter from Nvidia. However, that halo effect on tech stocks quickly faded and the S&P 500 sold off nearly 2% from the high to close the session down 1.35%. The NYSE FANG + fell almost 5% from its high to end the session down 3% but is still up ~2% for the week. Shortly after the open both indices failed right at their respective 50d moving averages. The weakness carried through to Asia overnight with multiple indices closing down >1% reversing the gains seen in the previous session. Yesterday most European indices ended around unchanged and they are bouncing modestly today. With Chair Powell set to take center stage in the next hour S&P futures are bouncing modestly currently trading ~0.35% above fair-value which will keep the cash index just under 4,400.
