Russian foreign policy: facing international turbulence

Russia’s increasingly active role in the international arena makes the headlines today. From the conflicts in Syria and Libya to the Venezuelan entanglement, it is hard to spot an international crisis where Russia is not directly or indirectly involved. This is what makes a comprehensive and frank debate about Russia’s foreign policy all the more needed. Which are the drivers of Russia’s foreign policy, especially vis-a-vis China, the US, and in the Middle East? Is Russia’s soft power an effective tool today? Which are the main matters of contention with the West?
