Newly released 911 calls during a shooting inside a downtown Columbus parking garage may shed new details.

The gunfire happened after a fight broke out involving two men and a woman. One man was sent to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators say they are not clear who fired the gun, however, a 911 caller says the man grabbed a deputy's gun and shot himself.

WSYX obtained the 911 calls from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office through a public records request.

"We just got a guy shot and it's down on the 7th floor," said the 911 caller.

Franklin County Sheriff's Office says there was a fight between two men and a woman on the 7th floor in the parking garage near their office and the county courthouse.

Looking at the surveillance video from the cameras in the parking garage, you can clearly see the two men get out of the car and start fighting. Seconds later, a woman runs for help and several law enforcement officers, some in plainclothes and others in uniform, helped try to break it up.

"Do you know what's going on? Shot? Yes, it's a head wound. Was it self-inflicted or what happened? Yes, he got the deputy's gun and shot himself with it," said the 911 caller.

Investigators say at least one shot was fired and a man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

"It's on the 7th floor going down. And it's male? How old is he ya think? A male in his 20s, probably 20s, early 30s. He's still breathing," said the 911 caller.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is now leading the investigation.

WSYX reached out to the attorney general's office and asked about this 911 call and if they knew who fired the gun.

A spokesperson said, "We do not have any additional information to share about the incident – BCI’s investigation remains ongoing."

An update on the man's condition also wasn't known.

Since the shooting, many have been worried about using the parking garage. The Franklin County administrator did send a letter to county employees, saying counseling sessions will be available for anyone feeling the impact or stress about the incident.
