The Line

No upcoming showtimes scheduled.
Director: Ursula Meier, Ursula Meier
2022 / 102min / DCP

Opening with a rhapsodic four-minute slow-motion set piece that ranks among the most astonishing things that cinematographer Agnès Godard has ever filmed, Meier’s The Line is a penetrating study in fractured family dynamics. Served with a restraining order after assaulting her pianist mother, Margaret (Stéphanie Blanchoud, also the film’s co-writer) is ordered to keep a 100-meter distance from the family home—an invisible barrier that becomes unignorable when Margaret’s younger sister paints a blue circle around the house. A crackling drama of domestic dysfunction and asphyxiating mother-daughter bonds, lensed in striking widescreen.

Intro from Ursula Meier & a post-screening Q&A with Meier and Agnès Godard 6:15pm Friday, March 31 & 3pm Sunday, Aprl 2
