Australia’s largest venture capital funds have drastically retreated from large investments in 2022, new data compiled by The Australian Financial Review reveals, re-focusing on early-stage deals and pre-revenue companies.

The new data provided by funds revealed the country’s three largest VC funds – Blackbird Ventures, AirTree Ventures and Square Peg Capital – all invested earlier in companies than they had in previous years, while deal values and volumes fell in Series A and later investment rounds.
