CVS Health is looking to add 750 more workers in Ohio as part of a nationwide hiring spree.
The Woonsocket, Rhode Island-based healthcare company will host a one-day national career event Sept. 24 to fill 25,000 clinical and retail jobs as the company gears up for flu season amid continued Covid-19 vaccines and testing.
Most of the available positions are for full-time, part-time and temporary licensed pharmacists, trained pharmacy technicians and nurses at CVS Pharmacy store locations, said Charlie Rice-Minoso, a CVS Health spokesperson. The company is also recruiting retail store associates.
CVS operates 389 pharmacy stores in Ohio, including about three dozen in the Dayton metro area, according to its website.
In addition to flu vaccinations, CVS said the hiring campaign will help it administer Covid-19 booster shots, pending regulatory approval, and continue to offer coronavirus vaccines and testing.
To date, CVS said it has administered more than 34 million Covid-19 vaccines and more than 32 million tests.
CVS Health recently raised its corporate-wide minimum wage to $15 an hour, effective July 2022, along with incremental increases to hourly rates that start immediately. Ohio's minimum wage is $8.80, though that number is expected to increase in 2022.
Qualified candidates can apply for open positions using the CVS mobile app feature by texting "CVS" to 25000 or by visiting the CVS website. There will be no on-site applications or interviews, as the hiring process is virtual.
Current CVS Health employees who refer full-time pharmacists or pharmacy technicians that are hired into the company will be eligible for a cash bonus.
