The Smile have shared another Paul Thomas Anderson–directed video from new album Wall of Eyes, and it’s a good one. For the “Friend of a Friend” short, Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and Tom Skinner performed to a roomful of kids (Skinner’s own among them), inducing delightful responses that run the gamut from rapt gazes to yawns to general mischief. The Smile premiered the video at screening events last week, which also featured the Anderson-directed video for the Wall of Eyes title track. The follow-up to A Light for Attracting Attention also features the June single “Bending Hectic,” one of Pitchfork’s “100 Best Songs of 2023.”
