JAMESTOWN, R.I. (WJAR) — A RIPTA driver suffered a medical emergency while driving a bus through Jamestown Saturday night, causing the bus to drive off the road.
According to police, the incident happened at around 7:33 p.m. on Saturday near North Road by the route 138 overpass.
The bus came to a stop in the wetland on the east side of North Road.
The driver and the sole passenger were taken to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.
RIPTA released a statement on Sunday, saying, “Passenger and driver safety is our top priority. We can confirm that there were no serious injuries. We are currently investigating and do not have any further details at this time.”
