De-dollarization is all the rage. Or at least talk about it. Television pundits as disparate as Fareed Zakaria on CNN and Tucker Carlson on Fox News have devoted entire shows to the US currency’s status. According to the research group GlobalData, discussion of de-dollarization on platforms such as Twitter and Reddit was up 600% during the first quarter, compared to the last three months of 2022. Why the excitement?
