As I read the book of Judges, the repeated phrase … “They did what was right in their own eyes…” comes through the pages again and again. This book shows clearly what happens when humans define what is good for themselves, instead of trusting in God’s wisdom.
This downward spiral is so relevant for us today, when everyone is deciding what is right in their own eyes.
The book of Romans (chapter 1) goes on to describe what happens to the one who exchanges the Truth of God for a lie, and so “… God gave them up to vile passions” … and it gets worse and worse.
When we stop trusting in God … there is no bottom to the bottomless pit of tragedy.
Let’s be those who abide in the Truth of God’s Word.
