Herbert Marcuse was a neo-Marxist and founder of Critical Theory, a form of cultural Marxism. Angela Davis was formerly a card-carrying communist. Classical Marxism focuses on class while the later mutations of Marxism applied Marxist foundational principles to race, gender and other aspects of culture.
