Audi closes Brussels plant – thousands of people out of work
Audi announced that the Brussels plant will cease production by the end of February 2025. The plant, which employs around 3,000 people, will be closed due to falling demand for the electric Q8 e-tron SUV and high production costs.
“We have not found any alternative to this decision” - Audi spokesman Peter D'hoore admitted directly. Despite attempts to sell the plant, the factory has not found a buyer.
Audi's decision is just another example of the challenges facing the European industry in the era of energy transformation.
