The app for independent voices

It's the best time to job search in years.

(Ignore the headlines.)

If you were to go by the news, you'd think:

  1. We're all going to lose our job to AI

  2. All of big tech is doing rolling layoffs

  3. No one is hiring tech workers right now

The data really tells a different story.

---

SUPPLY SIDE

Yes, this hasn't been a good year for layoffs.

The 744K announced job cuts this year far outpace any year since 2020. But, the layoffs have been decreasing month over month the last four months.

And they're back to the monthly amt we saw last year.

---

DEMAND SIDE

This is where things are looking better.

After sustained bumps in hiring at the beginnings of 2024 and 2025, we're seeing job postings at US based tech companies up 45% from the lows.

There's a new stable amount of 235Kish job openings.

---

THE RESULT IS NOT EQUILIBRIUM

The supply of tech workers still exceeds demand.

But it's an improving picture:

  • Supply is decreasing

  • Demand is increasing

So most job seekers are not getting the huge raises of years past, but they are able to secure jobs.

WHO IS HIRING

So the question is: who is hiring?

Well, companies that are winning any sector (AI, SaaS, Crypto, Fintech...). Here are their job boards:

The story is a bit more nuanced in big tech.

They are hiring in AI, but laying off elsewhere.

Overall, they are increasing their hiring (of PMs):
