I keep seeing people mistake loops for AI strategy.

Loops are great. Boris Cherny said he doesn't prompt anymore, he edits loops. Peter Steinberger says the same. We should move from prompts to loops.

But a loop is a technical architecture. It's great for automating an agentic task. It gives you memory, plus a goal. So, for things like coding execution, you reach a level of productivity well beyond prompts + context.

Loops are terrible for deciding what to build. Your human brain's neural network can encode a much richer or cleaner picture of what the business needs, what customers need, and what's just become technologically possible than even the most advanced AI harness.

Strategy is more timeless.

In fact, let's go back to 2014.

No one uses our product →

So we ask customers what features are missing →

Then we build them and.... →

Still no one uses our product

That's still the case now!

And replacing users with AI actually just makes things worse. AI might be all-knowing, but it's still not a human. It can simulate our taste, but it can't pinpoint what + why as cleanly as a real human can.

So decide your product strategy yourself. This is one thing that shouldn't be in a loop.
