Fascism, in its traditional Mussolini definition, means that there has to be a socialist front also vying for state power and control, from which fascists emerge as an authoritarian counterrevolutionary force seeking to destroy communism and socialism.

There is no such front that exists in Amerika, which is why Trump regularly has to create an enemy with his “radical left” language, in a typical red scare–type dogma. The reality is he is referring to liberals and their “cultural” values, which have produced gendered/sexual identity politics, liberal assimilationist diversity campaigns, wokeism, and neoliberal frameworks of inclusion into the broader “melting pot” of Amerika.

We are quite beyond fascism in its typical definition. If we are trying to understand Trump’s politics seriously, it’s much better to analyze his policies and frameworks rather than just throwing around outdated terms that don’t fit.
