Founded by Bill Gothard, a man who never married or had children yet claimed to be an authority on family matters, women, and their required submission, Gothard promoted the Quiverfull movement. This ideology asserts that women do not have authority over their bodies. They are prohibited from using birth control and must be devoted to fulfilling their husbands' needs, placing trust in the Lord regarding their bodies and the number of children they may have.
