Week 3 of Friday Food Vibes is inspired by a quick trip to San Francisco.
My only regret was not making it over to Berkeley for a meal at Chez Panisse so to quell the FOMO, I dug through the archives of anniversary posters and menus! I still have my menu from my first meal there in 2019.
Chez Panisse’s signature look can be credited to the late David Lance Goines, a graphic artist who defined the aesthetic of Berkeley’s counterculture. His work was primarily inspired by German Art Nouveau and Japanese woodblock prints.
His posters were gifts to the restaurant and as a result, he was the lucky recipient of unlimited free meals. Dream perk!
