Block is making a significant investment in developer productivity. Their goal: to make engineering velocity a competitive differentiator.

They’re focused on three main initiatives:
Creating “instant developer environments” to reduce the time and friction developers experience.
Establishing golden paths to reduce time spent on information search. They expect this project alone will save up to 200K developer hours annually.
Integrating AI into developer workflows. A key example of this has been their open source AI agent called Goose. They expect to see a 30% boost in developer productivity with AI.
