12,000 Liters of Water. 300 Families Reached. But the Children Are the Ones I Can’t Stop Thinking About.

Today, with your support, we delivered 12,000 liters of clean water to two displacement camps in northern Gaza.

Our first stop was Al-Amadi Camp, where 220 displaced families received water. The camp is crowded with tents, and every family is struggling to secure even the most basic necessities.

Our second stop was Al-Ain Camp, where another 80 families received clean water.

In total, 300 families benefited from today’s delivery.

The heat was overwhelming. People stood in long lines under the blazing sun, waiting patiently with empty containers. Some were waiting for drinking water, while others hoped to pour a little cool water over their faces to escape the unbearable heat, even if only for a moment.

There was one little girl I will never forget. She insisted on carrying her family’s water container herself, despite her mother’s repeated attempts to stop her because it was too heavy. Her determination was heartbreaking. Then her brother, who looked to be about the same age, began crying because he wanted to carry the water instead. He wanted to be the one responsible for bringing water home to his family. Children who should be playing are instead competing over who gets to carry the burden of survival.

Another scene stayed with me as well. I watched a young boy and his mother carrying a heavy water container together, each taking part of the weight. They walked side by side, helping one another. It was a simple moment, but it said everything about what life has become for displaced families.

These moments are impossible to forget. They remind us that behind every water truck are families fighting to survive another day with dignity.
