The app for independent voices

Why is everything Kennedy does treated as political?

I recently learned about the GRAS “generally recognized as safe” loophole which allows companies to effectively decide for themselves that ingredients are safe. Thousands of substances have entered our food supply this way, often with little independent oversight.

It’s like Big Pharma telling us “trust us. Our product is safe.”

Kennedy’s proposal would simply tighten that system and shift the burden of proof back where it belongs: on the companies profiting from these products.

There was a time when protecting the public from industry harm was a defining pillar of the Democratic Party.

Our health should never be political. It’s not a red or blue issue. It’s purple.
