The app for independent voices

We’ve all seen the trends. We know how it makes people feel. To ignore that is to ignore reality. So how do we keep it productive and motivational?

Yesterday in WD:

"Was it stodgy, boring, provincial, and culinarily bleak? Perhaps, but Old Canada’s superficial shortcomings did not justify its replacement in the second half of the twentieth century, a time of cultural subversion and social revolution led by the post-war generation . . .

"Many first-generation immigrants and their children embrace that older, distinct Canada without seeking to tear it down. That itself is a validation of the allegedly unexciting native Canadian culture, one that placed a premium on manners and trust, and was paired with the promise of prosperity in an orderly, wealthy country.

"Culture is often misunderstood. No doubt it involves creative mediums like painting, literature, and music. However, culture is also the code of a people and community. It includes beliefs, manners, history, tastes, and the higher standards that emerge from them."
