Advice for analysts: Watch baseball games. Numbers don’t mean anything if we don’t understand them in the context of the game. Watch a nasty slider, then check the shape metrics.
Say to yourself, wow that was a quick swing. Then check the bat speed on Baseball Savant. We get too lost in the numbers, and i’m the biggest culprit.
