The app for independent voices

Just finished a book that’s got me thinking long and hard about times when I’ve gone along with something that didn’t harmonize with what’s important to me.

The book is Dr. Sunita Sah’s Defy. It’s about why we do this, how we can stop doing so, and why our lives, and the world, improve when we do. It’s a science-backed manifesto for living according to our values.

And, as you’d expect in a book about sticking up for yourself, the experiences of women and members of marginalized ethnic groups are where they should be, at its heart.

The paperback was published today, which makes it cheaper, and the author’s put the places where it’s available on her website here:

I’m going to be mulling Defy over for a while. It’s really made me focus on those moments where it’s so easy to go along with someone, or not to speak out about something, or to compromise what’s most important to you.

I’d really recommend reading it!
