5 things ADHDers do on Saturday that look like wasted time but are repair work:
1. Lying in bed for 90 minutes scrolling Your brain is downshifting from 5 days of forced activation. The scrolling is anesthesia, not pleasure. Stopping it requires a softer transition than "just get up."
2. Watching the same 3 minutes of a show on loop Not boredom. Your brain wants stimulation that requires zero activation energy. The familiar loop is a thermostat, not entertainment.
3. Cleaning one shelf and stopping Not laziness. That is the whole task your brain could fund today. The shelf is the win. The rest of the apartment is for a different day with different chemistry.
4. Eating the same food 3 times in a row Decision conservation. Saturday is when your brain refuses to spend the executive function it was already running on empty for.
5. Doing nothing and feeling guilty about it The doing is rest. The guilt is the bug, not the feature. Your brain is recharging the only way it knows how. The guilt is borrowed from a workweek that does not apply on Saturday.
You did not waste Saturday. You ran maintenance on the brain you spent 5 days driving to redline.
