5 things ADHDers over 55 do that look like aging but are signs of undiagnosed ADHD coming out of hiding:
1. Forgetting why you walked into a room Working memory was always this fragile. The estrogen buffer was keeping it functional. The buffer left at 50.
2. Misplacing your reading glasses 9 times a day Object-permanence problems are an ADHD signature. The glasses get the same treatment your keys got at 35.
3. Re-reading the same paragraph 4 times Sustained attention was always the cost. Reading used to power through on cortisol that does not arrive at 58.
4. Walking into the grocery store and forgetting what you needed List retrieval depends on a cue your brain stops generating around 55. You knew the list when you wrote it. The retrieval path is what failed.
5. Crying at the third bill of the day Decision fatigue used to be absorbed by the workweek scaffolding. The scaffolding is gone. The decisions still come.
The pattern was always there. The masking aged out.
