6 things ADHDers do on Friday evening that look like avoidance but are decompression:
1. Scrolling for 90 minutes before starting anything Your brain is downshifting from 5 days of forced activation. The scroll is anesthesia, not entertainment.
2. Reorganizing the kitchen instead of cooking Low-cost dopamine. Visible progress. Zero stakes. Your brain takes the easy win because the hard wins drained the tank.
3. Watching a movie you have seen 4 times Stimulation that requires zero activation energy. The familiar plot is a thermostat, not entertainment.
4. Texting back 11 people at once The reply window finally opened. Your brain is unloading what working memory has been carrying since Tuesday.
5. Making a list of what to do Saturday and never opening it The list is the closure. Writing it tells your brain the week is done. Whether you execute it is a separate question.
6. Going to bed at 9pm or 1am with nothing in between Your nervous system either crashes or refuses to. There is no middle. Friday-brain runs in two settings.
This is not lost time. It is the transition. Without it Monday-you starts the week from a deficit Friday-you already paid for.
