We do not think of ourselves as livestock. Not the way we think of pigs, sheep or cows.

But the city concentrates us, feeds us from distant landscapes, manages our waste through hidden infrastructure, and reorganises our lives around work, rent and debt.

That's not civilisation. That's a feedlot.
