Make money doing the work you believe in

Not a lot to say yet, since I’m still digesting the news, but it’s a sad day for books coverage in America and for The Washington Post. I personally am fine—I was leaving the Post anyway, and more details about where I’m going will be available soon—but I’m furious for my colleagues, furious in general, and frustrated that one man’s bad management decisions have royally screwed what could so easily have been a profitable paper. In my biased but maybe still sort of credible opinion, we were the best books section in the country for as long as it lasted, largely thanks to my incredible editor John Williams. See you all on the other side
