spent the past 3 weeks in China (shenzhen, hangzhou, yuyao in ningbo, and shanghai) looking at tech & AI through a peculiar lens. realized “AI” means very different things semantically.
In the US, AI = LLMs, usually confined to a chat window.
In China, AI = a “smart” glass that plays music, a talking and walking robot, “intelligent” headphones…
It feels JUST tangible—though often bubbly, awkwardly glued onto old tech, sometimes even scammy. but it’s almost always embodied in a physical product.
