Revisiting this thread in light of the Compact piece. I think it’s possible to argue that it’s a good thing for society that DEI as practiced in these industries actively harms the prospects of young white men. I don’t think it’s possible to argue that it doesn’t actively harm them.
The formulation here is that caring about women’s issues, immigration, and diversity actively harm you if you are a white man. How about a framework in which progress on those issues can help you by making society more inclusive and meritorious? Why are you harmed by gay people having rights or immigrants coming here to contribute to our economic growth? Zero sum thinking is very limiting here.
