Make money doing the work you believe in

Not sure if you caught this? But Meta acquiring Limitless is actually a Big deal. I’ve been following Limitless very closely.

Limitless is much more sophisticated than other pendant AI devices like Friend, Plaud and Bee or wtv. Limitless was formerly known as Rewind and kickstarted yet another new trend of incredible surveillance and data harvesting by BigTech related to AI. Including some features being cloned by Microsoft.

Limitless has raised $33 million in funding from First Round Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, NEA and OpenAI Group PBC Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman. They had offered this Limitless pendant for $99 that really listens to everything you do.

This is of course another sign of Meta competing directly with OpenAI. All the poaching Meta did, all the “Superintelligence” push is directly competing with OpenAI that is hoping to build an apps ecosystem and of course their own hardware AI device.

Oddly CEO Dan Siroker did not disclose the financial terms of the deal. If you care about privacy this is like an end-game product that seeks high quality human data for greater personalization. It’s Black Mirror level of data harvesting that these companies will push in the 2030s as the new normal.

AI wearables are among the hardest verticals to get right. Meta has a pretty dismal history in hardware though it’s made a lot of progress of late. AI-enabled wearables in the 2026 to 2030 period really starts to evolve. Everything from home robotics, to AR/AI glasses, to new form factors to miniature drones. It’s going to put old ideas of IoT to shame. Until of course consumer grade BCIs arrive that can do things a privacy activist of five or ten years ago would be pretty upset about.
