I loved the first essay on romanticizing the everyday, and this is such a perfect companion! Some of my favorite traditions:

- My partner and I get unlimited sushi every Valentine's Day and do a fancy dinner the week before or after — we avoid the crowds and typically overwrought V-Day-specific menus, and there's something kinda fun & subversive about gorging yourself on a day everyone associates with romance and sex, lol.

- Every Christmas, I give everyone an ornament that's emblematic of their year.

- Not as date-specific, but it's an unspoken tradition to reuse gift bags/wrappings/etc. with my partner's family, so we're always passing bags and such back and forth... surprisingly charming (and cheaper than always buying new ones!)
