For those still confused: people souring on ICE and GOP handling isn't progressive messaging finally landing. It's a thermostatic response to overreach—the most predictable dynamic in democratic politics. Opposition unity is an effect of the public already shifting, not its cause.
It’s worth noting that people's absolute preferences on ideal migration policy are likely unchanged. The thermostat is just correcting for overreach. I wish more survey folks would test beyond "Abolish ICE" which tells us nothing about what people actually want from enforcement.
