This is fucking terrifying and also so depressing. In my job as a professor of creative writing, I’ve now confronted this glib, content-less voice aping engagement and insight more often than I ever expected to. I feel like I’ve become an expert in the ways that AI seems like a reliable tool or a good writer while it very much isn’t. The fact that students are turning to it more and more is a five alarm fire, and we need systemic change to address it.
