It is ridiculous, and state leaders should be ashamed, that California’s public report cards are still so terrible in 2026. California fancies itself to be a national leader. But in terms of educational transparency, we are a laughingstock. It’s plain that state education leaders do not see the value of providing clear data on school quality to Californians.
