The steam engine preceded a whole host of inventions that made physical labor 50-100X more productive. Later, radio, and prior, the printing press, made information distribution (and misinformation distribution) far easier and cheaper.

AI is like a strange brew of both — it makes people far more productive and it makes disinformation creation and distribution trivial.
