I think it’s worth celebrating a bit of progress. 100 years ago, it was challenging to get enough calories to eat; the options for people were extremely limited; universities were for the wealthy; life was extremely hard socially for basically any ethnic group and gay people; catching a cold could be a death sentence.

In short, life for most was brutish and short.

Today is far from perfect, but we have a lot our ancestors didn’t.
