Is it possible to be gifted farmland?
In this week's 'unconventional ways to buy farmland series' I am managing right here on House of Green... I am diving into donations-based and sliding-scale transfers of farmland from aging farmers and conservationists who CARE about where their land goes.
These people CARE about legacy and protecting the planet.
Are they majority? Probably not. But if only 1% of those selling farmland off as part of the $24 trillion dollar land transfer now underway in the U.S. do CARE... it's still worth writing about.
I am going to explore how to find these people, set up the exchange, and benefit from land being sold below market value since there is a moral element to this kind of land sale.
I will post the article below once it goes live!
If you are thinking about buying land, starting a homestead, leaving the city this year etc... I try to be a resource for anyone exploring affordable ways to buy land, even if it's just an acre. I just did this in 2023 and am continuing to build out my farm as we speak.
