Photo taken in Paris during the golden hour. What do the Concorde fountains represent?
The two fountains in Place de la Concorde have been there since 1840.
They were designed by Jacques Ignace Hittorff, inspired by those in St. Peter's Square in Rome.
It's no coincidence that they represent rivers and seas.
19th-century France wanted to convey something: its mastery of waters, its empire, its commercial power.
More than a fountain, a political message.
