1500 disabled people and our allies marked the 35th anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act in July by marching from Boston City Hall to the Embrace on Boston Common, which honors the love between Coretta Scott and Martin Luther King, Jr. Faced with the beauty of a true embrace embodied in that beautiful work of art, I delivered some remarks about what disability pride means in a state and nation that won’t embrace disabled people as true equals.
