When you go to the OBGYN in the Netherlands, they don’t supply a gown like they do in the US. There’s a curtained-off corner like in a retail store fitting room for you to remove your pants and undies, but then you walk out naked from the waist down, so what’s the point? The first time I visited the OBGYN here, I wore a short, fitted sweater, which was awkward. Now I know to wear a long t-shirt. When I went yesterday, I tugged down my t-shirt as I sat in the chair and propped up my legs, thinking I was so prepared, only to realize as I looked down that I was wearing two different socks! I think my doctor tried to make me feel better because she said, “Well, at least it looks like they came from the same pack.”
