Doing somatic work in therapy changed my life but you know what helped my mental health the most??? Having a stable job and feeling respected!! My brain got way better when my life got better who knew!
The wellness world loves to talk about nervous system regulation; an idea ‘co-opted’ from somatic psychology. They love to tell us that if we just breathe deeper, if we just ground ourselves more, if we just practice mindfulness long enough, we will be able to stay present no matter what.
