One thing that took me a while to understand is that work expands to fill the space you give it (Parkinson’s law) works both ways. If you want to mail a postcard and give yourself a month, it will take a month. If you have to create a presentation in two hours you’ll have a presentation in two hours. Right-sizing the amount of time your give yourself is an underrated skill.
