I’m glad you mention this, as citizens are also paying with their own blood. And at a higher rate than last year - just based off the collected death data from this year so far and last.

Here’s some stats from the draft of my upcoming dispatch post:

U.S. citizens account for seven of the eighty-six deaths recorded thus far, or just over eight percent of the total. Yet they account for five of the twelve fatal shootings by agents, or nearly forty-two percent.

U.S. citizens are not dying in ICE detention facilities. They are not succumbing to heat exposure at the border. They are dying in the field, during enforcement actions, and at a rate wildly disproportionate to their presence in the enforcement system.

The names include:

  • Juan Alexis Tineo-Martinez, shot by an ICE agent in Texas in February 2025.

  • Ruben Ray Martinez, shot by an ICE and HSI agent in Texas in March 2025.

  • Keith Porter, shot by an off-duty ICE and DHS agent in California in December 2025.

  • Renee Good and Alex Pretti, both shot by CBP and ICE agents in Minneapolis in January 2026.

  • James Douglas McMilan, shot by CBP officers in Texas in March 2026.

  • Linda Davis, a U.S. citizen and teacher in Savannah, killed in a vehicular crash in February 2026 when ICE pursued a man who, according to the dataset notes, posed no danger to anyone.

The occupation is dripping with blood, does it need to be yours for you to start caring?
