One of the coolest opportunities I’ve had so far as a poet was being hired by Anthropologie to write a Mother’s Day poem for them in 2022.

Here is what I wrote and the video they made using it! Happy Mother’s Day to all who nourish the world.

She is warm breezes 

and firelight,

fierce love,

and tender hands

that tuck loose dreams

into her pockets

to remind us who we are

when we’ve forgotten. 

She is the voice inside us

the lantern that guides us

the moon with her steady presence 

safely holding the seas. 

Mother is creation herself 

the choice to nourish  

what needs our love most dearly;

the tender, growing things

of this world.
