The caucuses have been closed for a little less than an hour and the media pundits are already calling them for Donald Trump.

Perhaps more informative about the GOP race than Trump’s apparent blowout victory is that Nikki Haley is as of the latest updates well behind Ron DeSantis. That cuts well against the narrative of DeSantis’ campaign falling apart and Haley coming into her own.

If the GOP Establishment has been hoping for a viable alternative to Trump to emerge through the primaries, Iowa is proving a grave disappointment to them.

Donald Trump appears to be every bit as popular as the polling indicates.
